The golden key-piece rests half-buried at the base of an apple tree root where the stream's current pushed it ashore, gleaming among the grass as Maya, Omar, and Nori arrive and point toward it.

Tala bounds across the grass and scoops up the golden key-piece in her small paws, lifting it triumphantly while Maya and Omar watch and Nori's aqua eyes brighten.

Maya, Omar, Tala, and Nori dash across the cobblestones toward the tower's arched doorway, Tala clutching the golden key-piece tight as she leads the sprint with the others close behind.

Inside the bell chamber, Tala hurries up to the open mechanism and hands the golden key-piece over to Omar, who reaches out and takes it carefully in his fingers while Maya and Nori look on.; then Omar leans into the open mechanism and slots the golden key-piece into its empty socket among the gears, seating it firmly with careful fingers while Maya, Tala, and Nori watch closely.

Nori plants his metal feet firmly and pushes the tall lever down with all his mechanical strength, and the brass gears lurch into motion, turning together for the first time in the whole mechanism.

Far above the square, the great bell swings and rings out over the rooftops as the four friends burst out of the tower doorway below, arms raised and cheering together at the sound.

The clock tower stands tall above the square, its bell swinging bright and loud, as lanterns glow and the festival stalls come alive with light across the whole village below.
